Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all
In 2016/17, Carla’s heart was stolen on a cycling trip through the Middle East, Asia, and Easter Europe. Katrin’s first love was her thru-hike on the Pacific Crest Trail, walking the United States’ West Coast from Mexico to Canada in 2017. These travels shaped both teammates and left them wanting more – Carla actually participated in the 2019 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge (TWAC), rowing across the Atlantic on a four-woman team, Katrin eagerly followed Carla’s journey from home.
Now Carla and Katrin will chase their adventure dreams together, as a team of two, rowing in 2024 the WORLD'S TOUGHEST ROW. The distance to cross the Atlantic is 3,000 miles, a challenge many people would not find appealing, especially in a rowing boat! But Ian Couch, Head Safety Officer of the WORLD'S TOUGHEST ROW, properly sums up the fascination by saying, “There is something very special about being out in the ocean. It’s not about rowing 3,000 miles.”
The physical and mental difficulties of this race are apparent to both rowers, but they are excited by the great unknowns that await them. They are ready to be immersed in the freedom and solitude of this life-altering adventure – one boat, two comrades, and the powerful Atlantic Ocean.
